What Is It About Those Who Have Sexual Addiction That Should Concern You About Your Child’s Safety? Part XIV

“Imagination is more important than knowledge.”
In your home is there someone who is expending much time in a private room, not the livingroom where the monitor would be visible to everyone? The private room is where the computer is located and as soon as this individual comes home from school, work, meetings, after dinner and so forth they go to this private room, shut the door and immediately get on the computer?

If the answer to the question above is yes, then there is a problem. The problem is you may have a sexual addict or sexual offender in your home. If you have small children do not believe for a second that they don’t have the knowledge and savvy to get on the computer and then go directly to the Internet.

The Internet is there for the pickings and the children of today can run circles around their parents and one of the places they go to once they have entered the Internet are the pornography sites. It seems unbelievable to have a seven year old son who is addicted to pornography. This situation is problematic for parents and if the problem isn’t handled immediately, then the child will move from pornography to sexually assaulting children of his age or younger.

Children have difficulty distinguishing between right and wrong, what behavior should be reality and what is fantasy. The children of today receive rewards from their peers when the child is able to brag to his friends that he found a pornography site and it was exciting. Sharing with peers is important and being able to tell someone they hang out with where an exciting pornography site is, makes the child feel important.

The sexual progressive levels I wrote about last week talked about the many levels a child processes through when exposed to pornography between the ages of 5-12. The levels provide us as adults with an understanding of how children progress from being exposed to pornography to the sexual aggressor to the sexual addict or sexual offender. The parent may understand the progression, but for the majority of adults do not understand how to curtail their sons sexual fantasies and pursuit to view pornography.

Parents therefore need to monitor their child’s activities on and off the computer. Today’s society is sexualized beyond belief. Everywhere a child turns, there is a sexual image or theme which a child is exposed to. If you sit a child in front of a computer and tell them to play and learn how to use it, you are opening the door to serious implications which you as a parent and your child may not be able to recover from.

The world of sexual addicts and sexual offenders has regressed to entering their own private rooms in their homes. This is the breeding ground of the next sexual addicts and offenders. In their secret room, they expend their free time being obsessive and compulsive in search of finding sexual images, themes and gratification.

The number of sexual addicts ranges depending on the resource which is relied upon. Still whatever the number of addicts there are, the world of sexual addiction secrecy keeps the numbers at the lowest range possible. Men and women are on the computer and chat rooms such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, LinkedIn, and so many chat rooms where other sexual addicts are reaching out to find that dopamine high.

Children at school talk about the Facebook account they created and tell others to visit them at the website. Then all of the children learn the methods and techniques of sharing information and they begin communicating innocently at the beginning of the relationship.  Later, it becomes a website of lust and sexual flirtation.

The majority of children have mobile telephones and the telephone comes with a camera, email, attachment function and soon they are “sexting” pictures of their naked bodies back and forth to other peers, friends, schoolmates, relatives and so forth. There are no secrets between friends. They live in a society of instant disclosure and gratification.

In their secret room they can masturbate when they want, seek and view any sexual picture or video they want. For a small fee the sexual addict can watch pornographic videos, all types of sexual positions, three-some, and child pornography.

The difference in their secret room which separates most of the sexual addicts from the sexual offenders is the type of sexual pictures, videos, and pornography they pursue and view. It is unknown and unclear how many sexual offenders are operating worldwide. Conjecture of just how many there are should scare you as they are dangerous as it isn’t that they exist, it is what they want and that is your child that should seriously concern you.

Sexual offenders have one thing in mind and that is to sexually assault children. Some have over the years taken their sexual desires for children and abducted them from their families, molested and raped them, sold them and murdered them.

Human Trafficking is a major problem in the United States. There are children who are abducted and go missing every day. Someone’s daughter or son is taken against their will, only to become a sexual object to someone, but to later be sold or murdered.

Someone out there is stealing someone’s child and putting them into sexual slavery, selling them and killing them. If you doubt what has been written here read the following statistics:

The U.S. State Department has estimated that approximately 600,000 to 800,000 victims are trafficked annually across international borders worldwide and approximately half of these victims are younger than age 18 (U.S. Department of State, 2005, 2006, 2007).  Additionally, the U.S. State Department has estimated that 80 percent of internationally trafficked victims are female and 70 percent are trafficked into the sex industry (U.S. Department of State, 2005).  In comparison, the International Labor Organization has estimated that at any given time, 12.3 million people are in forced labor, bonded labor, forced child labor, sexual servitude, and involuntary servitude (International Labor Organization, 2005).  Other estimates of global labor exploitation range from 4 million to 27 million (U.S. Department of State, 2006, 2007).

Further, trafficking within the United States:

To date, estimates of human trafficking have focused almost exclusively on international trafficking victims (Laczko & Gozdziak, 2005), and this holds true for the United States as well.  Only a recent estimate of minors at risk for sexual exploitation comes close to estimating U.S. domestic trafficking.  Between 244,000 and 325,000 American youth are considered at risk for sexual exploitation, and an estimated 199,000 incidents of sexual exploitation of minors occur each year in the United States (Estes & Weiner, 2001).  These figures, however, are limited estimates of youth at risk for human trafficking and do not address adult U.S. citizens trafficked into the sex industry or American children and adults trafficked for labor.  We can, however, turn to estimates of other at-risk populations, such as runaway/throwaway youth, youth exploited through prostitution, and child labor, to gain a better sense of the potential prevalence of domestic trafficking, or at least the numbers of people at high risk of trafficking. (ASPE.hhs.gov)

Tomorrow, the secrets of sexual addicts and offenders are beginning to be uncovered as spouses, family members and partners find them in positions of compromise i.e. viewing pornography, masturbating, and so much more. The path in which the addict and offender have been following keep their secrets safe.  Once they enter their private rooms, their computers become their outside world. The secretive actions of the addict and offender keep them from being caught. There is so much to learn and study in the world of the sexual addiction and sexual offenders. Protect your children, because if you don’t nobody else will.
