What Is It About Those Who Have Sexual Addiction Which Make It Difficult For Those Who Love The Sexual Addict? Part XI

Each day the number of sexual addicts gains growth within the youth of the United States of America. Their new doorway is the Internet and inside the door to the right, left, behind, and straight ahead are a multitude of avenues for the youth to find exciting and new frontiers which to fill in their time.

What these young people don’t understand is that in looking inside the doorway they may have just established a pattern of behavior. This may cause them much enjoyment at the beginning of their exploration, but at some time they will find hurt, pain, harm, and so many other negative frontiers.

Too often the young need to walk forward so they can step backwards after they feel the heat from the fire. If they would have been educated i.e. parents into what the new frontier may hold for them maybe they would have used common sense, logical and reasonable approaches to what later will turn into something negative.

Unfortunately, no matter how old someone who is inexperienced is they will take the wrong road and have the door slammed in their face. Enjoying the hurt at that time they may reflect and say if only someone would have warned me.

Parents have to take the time to research and discover what their children are doing at the present time in using the Internet. The age of the new explored pornography websites is astronomical. Some research has suggested children as young as five have visited a pornography site in the past year.

Being a parent today has many challenges as monitoring their child’s behavior has never been so demanding. Most parents have to work from morning to night so at an early age children will find themselves home alone and having too much time on their hands. To the Internet they will go and being of intuitive minds search for something fun to pass their time away. In their world enters pornography. Without warning here it comes. The innocence of youth is taken from them even when their eyes are open.
The child and parent aren’t totally responsible for all of the blame as the pornography industry leaves trickles of gateways and doors for the child to find these pornographic sites. The pornography business does just enough to point the way for the child to their websites, but not enough to draw attention to themselves.

The pornography industry is more powerful today than it was twenty-five years ago. With the planting of websites for the curious child, the pornographic websites are creating future clients who will increase their prospects and future paying clients.

This cyclical victimization of children is illegal and the only way the pornography owners get away with what they do is to establish their business outside the United States, therefore avoiding the criminal laws.

Parents have you taken the time to talk to your children about the many dangers, negative traits, and conf
using aspects of the Internet? If you haven’t thought about the following information take the time to read, learn and teach:

·         12% of all websites on the Internet being pornographic, and the average child first seeing porn online at age 8-9, it’s important to talk to your child about pornography.
·         Discuss the sexual bullying which occurs once the child enters the “sexdome” of vicious, malicious, mean, hurtful, harmful, intimidating, and so many other negative possibilities. Don’t be a parent who doesn’t take the time to talk to your child about pornography and the addictive type of behavior which is associated with it.
·         The available sexting which occurs amongst young adults is addictive, consuming, destructive, and the possibilities of victimization are great, and the actions of young adults can turn criminal i.e. communicating with a minor for sexual immoral purposes, sending body parts in sexual manners across their mobile telephones, the Internet, emails, and so forth.
·         Other young adults of all ages will lead to new and exciting pornographic websites and how to get to it. Exchanging URLs are common amongst young adults and children need to beware not to let curiosity get the best of them and have them do something which under normal circumstances they would not do.
·         Explain to your child that 2.5 billion emails are pornographic in nature-that is 8% of all emails.
·         Explain to your child that 34% of Internet users have experienced unwanted exposure to porn either through pop up ads or misdirected links or emails.
·         Explain to your child that there are 116,000 searches for ‘child pornography’ every day.
·         Explain to your child that until they reach the age of 16 years of age they will only have an email address to communicate with their parents, relatives and educators.
·         Explain to your child that parental control blocks will be placed on each and every computer in the home. To include software such as Covenant Eyes, X3watch, Safe Eyes Internet Safety, K9 Web Protection, and dozens of other software options to protect your child from exposure to not only pornography, but to violence, and themes which are inappropriate for children to view at an early age.
·         Explain to your child that any and all usage of a computer will be placed in the livingroom for all eyes to see.
·         Explain to your child they need to ask for permission to obtain access to the Internet and for them to state the purpose.
·         Explain to your child there will be accountability and responsibility for their use of technology from the television to the use of their mobile telephone.

It isn’t being a young adult in a generation where technology controls the majority of their time so easy, however it never has been easy growing up; that is life. Some schools have banned the use of mobile telephones during school hours. These rules should have the same structure in the home. Having your child sitting on the couch texting for hours is parental incompetence, inappropriate and simply insane.

A child’s life needs to be positively affected using a multitude of tools. Allowing a child to text for an undetermined amount of time without structure, rules and reasons is a problem waiting to happen, if not today, but in the immediate future.

Tomorrow, I will continue to address what positive and structured steps parents need to take in controlling technology in their child’s life. The new addiction won’t be sexual addiction, but “technology addiction” which will be discussed thoroughly beginning next week.
